what the fuck is gay sunshine?

If reclaiming slurs is a way of fighting oppression, then giving power to faggot is a battle cry.

People will celebrate the parts of our culture they enjoy but rarely care to understand the many other aspects about us, often using what they dislike or misunderstand to further marginalize us. We aim to highlight that faggotry, to showcase our resilience, and to remember our queerness lives every day.

Inspired by the transgressive 1970s literary magazine of the same name, GAY SUNSHINE grew out of a need to center and illuminate the parts of ourselves we are often forced to hide and to see how the traces we leave behind create spaces for others to discover...whether to their discomfort or delight.

Here at GAY SUNSHINE we are an open book, a confidante, and a mirror to our best and worst sides, because only once those are out in the open can we begin to find real comfort in being ourselves.
